56 years ago, Apr 13 1968, the Peace & Freedom Party led a Lil’ Bobby Hutton memorial march to the Alameda County Courthouse, where Huey P. Newton was being held on charges of murdering a policeman. The demonstrators were saluted with “V” signs by courthouse prisoners

The march was led by P&F members and former Free Speech Movement leaders Jack Weinberg and Mario Savio. P&F member Bob Avakian urged the crowd to “surround the Court House whether the pigs like it or not!”

The march took place one day after Hutton’s funeral in Berkeley, which was attended by over 2500 mourners. The unarmed Hutton had been shot to death by Oakland police six days earlier https://t.co/ktb70nB0Jf
