54 years ago, Feb 21 1970, the Youth International Party (White Panther Tribe of Palo Alto), the Palo Alto section of both the Yippies and the White Panther Party, briefly occupied the Midpeninsula Free University, declaring it the “People’s Office”

The occupation was as amicable as it was short-lived. MFU made no attempt to remove the Yippies/Panthers, who mostly hung around listening to records. They vacuumed the office before leaving, explaining that they would not return because they had to attend class on Monday
