49 years ago, January 28 1975, the Weather Underground bombed the Department of Defense offices in the Federal Building in Oakland and the State Department building in D.C. in response to President Ford’s escalation of the war in Vietnam and Cambodia

Four floors of the State Dept. building were damaged. Multiple floors were also damaged in the Federal Building in Oakland, where a third unexploded bomb was found on the seventh floor. It was removed overnight by a Navy ordnance unit and detonated in the middle of 15th Street
