39 years ago, April 11 1985, sixteen Bay Area labor leaders were arrested at a sit-in at the San Francisco offices of South African Airways. The labor leaders, who were “expressing their rejection of the sickness of apartheid,” were joined by a crowd of 150 outside the office

@lesuperburp It was organized by Richard Grouix, who was secretary-treasurer of the Alameda County Central Labor Council. Included other council leadership from other Bay Area counties; ILWU; Building Trades; and the Inland Boatmen’s Union.
