37 years ago, Sep 23 1984, Enola Gay, a “faggot affinity group” affiliated with the anti-nuclear Livermore Action Group, performed a blood ritual at Lawrence Livermore Lab. The ritual, known as “Blood & Money,” was one of the first protests against government handling of AIDS

Livermore Action Group had been organizing protests and blockades at the weapons research facility since 1981. Enola Gay, an affinity group within LAG, formed to bring gay men into anti-nuclear and Latin America solidarity work

The ritual was organized to “protest the money being spent on weapons and the lack of money being spent on AIDS research.” Enola Gay drew a line across the road with their own blood, which they then smeared on dollar bills, remarking “every contract this lab gets has blood on it”
